Windshield Chip Repair Tips
Loose gravel and other objects may hit your windshield, thus cracking it. Our team at Modern Classic Motors in Grand Junction, CO will guide you on how to fix windshield cracks.
Before you decide on how to repair a windshield chip, you need to determine its size. If the crack is smaller than 3 inches, you can easily fix it with an epoxy repair kit. If it is larger than that, consider seeking professional assistance.
Before you use an epoxy kit, check its expiration date because you may not get proper adhesion from a kit that is too old. Also, remember to check a kit’s curing steps before you buy it. Some kits have complex curing procedures that may need additional equipment and special procedures.
Clean the area around the chip using alcohol and a microfiber towel and dry it well. Proceed to apply the adhesive patch and plastic pedestal. Use a syringe to inject the epoxy resin. Give it time to cure and remove the pedestal. Finally, scrape off excess epoxy and remove the pedestal.
